Résumé : The analysis of a study-case leads to the elaboration of an organisation model of the village territory according to the resources appropriation patterns. Four space management units are defined: the inhabited area, the agricultural land, the river and the rangeland. The available resources within each unit are appropriated by different ways which are interdependent. The specific use rights and the management patterns of each unit interact to regulate the rights and organise the management of the resources at the location level. The relations between neighbouring locations condition the access to the resources which are not available in a village and have an influence particularly on the management of the gangland which extended over neighbouring villages. The management of the collective renewable resources is organised through institutions, either definite or not, at the location level and also at lower and upper levels. The evolution of the political and institutional context in South Africa and of collective actions are closely related. The existence of use regulation patterns is evidenced. The transfer of the resource management is real but not full achieved. The analysis of the resource management patterns allows us to draw some prospects for future action.
