Abstract : Integrated Production was defined as a high quality food production system with sustainable methods, environmentally friendly, keeping farm profitability, taking into account social demands related to agricultural functions, and agreeing with the requirements in the corresponding Specific Production Regulation. The (CEE) 2078/92 Regulation provides a financial aid regime to agricultural production methods, compatible with the protection of the environment. The Andalusian Integrated Rice Production (AIRP) Regulating Decree, pioneer in Europe decides the aspects relate to the Guaranty Label, the Emblem and Promotion for the obtained products Production and Marketing. It establishes a maximum surface of 500 ha for the AIRP unions (groups of farmers), who will be controlled by a technician who enforces regulated agricultural practices. Main obligatory practices, are as follows: levelling the field with laser technology at least every three years, using certified seed and estimating the pests and disease risks. Main prohibited practices: are the use of seeding dose higher than 200 kg/ha, seeding after the 30th of May, fertilising with doses higher than 180 kg N/ha in Indica type varieties or higher than 160 kg N/ha in the Japonica ones, and nitrogen applications after the panicle differentiation. A maximum residue level in grain has also been established. AIRP financial aid during the 2000 season has reached 2.100.000 dollars, for 14.434 ha (50% of the total surface), with an average of 145 dollars/ha. Compared to the Traditional System, there is a significant decrease (15%) on the fungicide application. (Résumé d'auteur)
