Abstract : The Thuja of the Maghreb, Tetraclinis articulata, is an endemic species of the south westen Mediterranean basin, especially in the three countries of the Maghreb region (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia). In this context, we chose ten trees of Tetraclinis as samples coming from three stations, ecologically distinct, and located in a purely Mediterranean forest solid mass, to determine the longitudinal modulus of elasticity (Young's Modulus) by the acoustic method. This acoustic method implementing a device designed at the Cirad Forest (France), makes it possible to measure the Young's modulus of test-tubes samples without defect, as a better alternative to the mechanical method. We also studied the influence of the factors stations on this module. The results obtained indicate that the wood of Thuja must be qualified as a heavy wood; its Young's modulus is weak. The variance analysis to two criteria of hierarchical classification showed that the standard effect of station and the tree effect in the station, were always significant; the wood of this species especially, has a low rigidity in the stations of a sub-wet climate at low altitudes.
