Résumé : In mineral nutrition trial PR CP 01, the absence of any significant response of palm yields to potassium chloride applications is confirmed. For leaf contents, a significant palm response to KCI applications is also confirmed, but it remains low and limited to a range of contents probably compressed by the pressure of very high calcium contents. An analysis of the soil samples taken in October 2008 showed that a fair proportion of the nutrients provided by fertilizers, especially potassium, was fixed in exchangeable form. It is proposed that fertilizer applications 6e halted in this experiment starting in 2010. In density trial PR CP 02, the palms have recovered well from the fire in the plantation in February 2008. Mineral nutrition, measured in November 2008, is excellent and balanced. Only Cl is a little weak and the immature palms will have to be fertilized with KCI in 2009. In soil amendment trial PR CP 03, immature palm growth is good and uniform. The initial treatments have been well applied. The beginnings of a treatment effect can be seen at 6 months, to be confirmed. Mature palm nutrition has remained stable overall in 2008, despite the absence of fertilization. In fact, Presco chose not to apply any KCI to mature palms in 2008, thereby going beyond GIRAD recommendations for a gradual reduction. In 2009, immature palms will be fertilized with 16-16-16 compound fertilizer up to the fifth year after planting, with nothing thereafter. It is necessary to pay close attention to leaf K content trends and be ready to apply KCI in 2010, if necessary. The mineral nutrition of immature palms is confirmed as being satisfactory, with the two annual applications of compound fertilizer. The old residual palms in the 2005 and 2006 plantings at Obaretin should be eliminated as soon as possible, to enable more uniform growth of the young palms. Given the current experimental area, which will probably increase in the near future, and also because of the future installation of a genetic block at Ologbo, Presco should urgently set up a true R&D division.
