Abstract : The experimental carbonization base which was initially established in the Herault Department by the Agence Française pour la Ma it rise de l'Energie (A.F.M.E.) has been transfered to SPOIR, near CHARTRES, and its management has been assigned to the C. T. F. T. Different types of kilns are installed and tested there, and other models are to be added to the range. This article describes the various models studied and the tests carried out. Emphasis is laid on the training aspect of this unit, which takes in trainees.
