Résumé : Many of the islands of the South West Pacific that bear sandalwood have been visited and the stands described. In the major part of them the population is strongly depleted but some of them still have interesting stands. Depending on the status of the existing population, several possibilities of management strategies are proposed in order to build up again stands with the largest possible diversity and that will be able to be managed in a sustainable way in few decades. Some of them are presently managed with the objective of regular annual heartwood production and an increase of the stock. These observations have given valuable information on the silviculture of the provenances that can be quite different, particularly concerning the shade intensity. Even the seed storage is very different and it demande new investigations. New recommendation are given for the shade demanding species and provenances. They differ significantly from our previous techniques identified for the Ile des Pins provenance and that has been proposed until now.
