Résumé : Une première partie a proposé une synthèse des acquis récents de la sélection du cocotier. Les orientations ainsi définies ont contribué à la mise en place du schéma d'amélioration utilisé en Côte d'Ivoire par l'IRHO. Après une seconde partie, consacrée aux hybrides Grand x Grand, le troisième volet de cet article décrit la méthode d'amélioration des hybrides Nain x Grand. Au premier cycle de sélection, les différents écotypes Grands sont croisés avec un testeur Nain, et les écotypes Nains sont croisés avec un testeur Grand. La phase suivante consiste à intercroiser les écotypes qui se comportent le mieux en hybridation. Grands entre eux et Nains entre eux. Elle permet la création de deux populations l'une par rapport à l'autre grâce à une sélection récurrente réciproque sur famille de demi-frères. L'intérêt du schéma d'amélioration est discuté. Les connexions possibles entre les deux axes de sélection -Nain x Grand et Grand x Grand- sont ensuite exposées; elles permettent de réaliser certaines économies de temps et de moyens. L'intégration de la méthode dans le cadre d'un réseau international de recherches est aussi abordée.

Résumé (autre langue) : Part I of this article gave a rundown of recent achievements in coconut breeding. The orientation defined in it contributed to the introduction of the improvement scheme used by IRHO in Côte-d'Ivoire Following on from part II which covered Tall x Tall hybrids, part III of the article describes the Dwarf x Tall hybrid improvement method During the first selection cycle the different Tall ecotypes are crossed with a Dwarf tester and the Dwarf ecotypes are crossed with a Tall tester The following phase consists in intercrossing the ecotypes that perform best in crosses. Talls with each other and Dwarfs with each other. This leads to the creation of two complementary populations. The following cycles improve these two populations with respect to each other, through reciprocal recurrent selection on half-sib families. The merits of the improvement scheme are discussed. The possible connections between the two selection procedures – Dwarf x Tall and Tall x Tall - are then described. These connections make it possible to save time and resources integration of the method into an international research network is also considered.
