Résumé : Since the beginning of the nineties, India is undertaking a process of liberalization of the agricultural sector as part of the structural adjustment program. But several questions arise: can farmers react positively to a change in price policies which implies higher prices fluctuation? Will these policies increase structural problems? Will they have a positive or negative impact on food security? The analysis of the impact of this process in the region of Haryana can provide useful [elements]. This region is a good example of the most important cereal producing areas (together with the Punjab) and is representative of two main production systems : (1) "wheat/rice" system which covers a large part of the alluvial semi-arid zone , (2) more diversified systems "traditional food crops (millet, sordhum)/cash crops (cotton, rapeseed, mustard)", characteristics of the arid zones of a large part of India.
