Résumé : Since the publication in 1956 of this work a considerable amount of new information, as might be expected, has come to light, in particular, that which deals with the evolution of water bugs, the effect of saliva of certain Heteroptera on seeds and plant growth,methods of respiration, the mechanics of ecdysis, the function of egg-bursters and the role played by these insects in pollination. The second edition also includes descriptions and figures of new families and the list of families and sub-families has been brought up to date so far as it has been possible.
