Résumé : The current experiments have been conducted within the framework of a joined project EMBRAPA - CIRAD whose objective is to limit the use of chemical insecticides for the control of locusts and grasshoppers, and to assess in the field the efficacy (and inocuity for non target fauna) of a myco-insecticide containing the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum. In November and December 2000, field trials have been conducted in Mato Grosso to assess the effects on grasshoppers and non target arthropods of low dosages (2,2 . 1012 and 4,2. 1012 spores/ha) of this myco-insecticide. In the four plots sprayed with 4,2 . 1012 spores/ha the grasshoppers began to die between the 9th and the 12th day after spraying and mean mortality was 43% 12 and 15 days after spraying. The samples of non target arthropods have not been analysed yet but it seems that the numbers of captures did not decrease significantly after spraying. A final report on these experiments will be written, in collaboration with the EMBRAPA-Cenargen team, after a complete analysis of non target arthropods samples collected in the field.
