Résumé : This document is largely based on the visit report presented at the final meeting held at PT Socfindo Head Office on 27 March 2002, attended by Socfindo and Bah Lias management. The mission objectives were as follows: - Carry out the first visit under the scientific collaboration agreement signed between PT Socfindo, Lonsum (Bah Lias Research Station) and CIRAD, focusing on the oil palm Ganoderma research project. - Attend the first Technical Committee meeting for the project. - Discuss the work programme with Socfindo and Bah Lias managers. - Launch the work programme for Dr. Frédéric Breton, who has been assigned to the project and posted to Tanah Gambus. - Determine with Dr. Breton the requirements of the project in terms of planting material, infrastructures, equipment and laboratory products, for submission at the end of the visit to Socfindo and Bah Lias. The Technical Committee met at the beginning of this plant pathology mission. It gave a reminder of the broad outlines of the project and established agreements in principle to the resources required, but it was unable to fully take into account the conclusions of the mission. It would therefore be advisable for the next Technical Committee meeting to be held at the end of such a mission. The priority objective of the project is to develop an early test to detect sources of resistance and susceptibility to Ganoderma. This will therefore require substantial laboratory work and preliminary methodological trials, which will be conducted at Bah Lias. Proposals were therefore made for strengthening the infrastructure and equipment of the plant pathology laboratory. These proposals were accepted by Bah Lias Management. For its part, Socfindo Management agreed to transfer certain items of equipment from the Bangun Bandar tissue culture laboratory to Bah Lias, on a loan basis.
