Résumé : Major problems of rice were identified and quantified in the North -Eeast region (Gharb) and the North region (Larache) of Morocco from 1996 to 2000. Surveys of many fields in the rice growing areas were made. The surveys include information on cultural strategies (fertilization, sowing and harvesting time, rotation...) and on disease development. Five sites per field were assessed and thus for ten fields per area. The severity, and the incidence of foliage diseases were noted. Assessment on the nodes and heads were also made. Diseased samples (leaves, stems, and nodes) with different types symptoms were analyzed in the laboratory. The mycoflora associated to rice leaves was determined in respect to the type of symptoms. The isolated fun,gal species from the lesions were identified. Problems , biotic and abiotic, were ranked according to their abundance for a better understanding of the real constraints of rice culture in Morocco.
