Résumé : A Kenyan isolate of Plutella xylostella granulovirus (PlxyGV) was >90 fold more virulent in 2nd instar P. xylostella larvae from a Benin population than a Kenyan population based on LC5o values. Indigenous PlxyGV has not been found in Benin and may explain the susceptibility of Benin P. xylostella. PlxyGV is transmitted in a density dependant manner from PlxyGV infected cadavers to healthy larvae and healthy larvae were observed to feed on infected cadavers. Transmission from infected live to healthy larvae increases with time post-infection. Seedlings emerging from PlxyGV-Ioaded soil acquired adequate virus to kill 2nd instar P. xylostella larvae.
