Résumé : The FITCA policy intents to engage the communities in Tsetse controlled area livestock keeping and to increase livestock productivity by controlling the disease either directly or by controlling the vector. The objectives of the Environmental Monitoring and Management Component are: increase sustainability of natural resources and agricultural systems, increase the level of information and awareness of environmental change. Remote sensing make up one of the most important tools to determine the land use evolution and landscape changes. The short term consultancy suggests the use of Very High Resolution Satellite data to monitor the Land cover changes on some pilot areas. An inventory and a cost comparison of the main VHRS satellites is carried out. A proposal gives the main indicators of land cover changes and a methodological approach.
