Résumé : A 36 vegetable farms survey in three peri-urban districts of Hanoi during hot wet season has led to set up a typology in three groups, based on the importance of vegetable production. The vegetable farmers group produce only vegetable, is ready to invest in new technologies, and is aware of safe production techniques management. The diversified plant based farmers group produce vegetable and rice. Use of rice for self consumption or marketing, allow us to distinguish two sub-groups less volunteer to invest in hot wet season vegetable techniques. Twenty-five different species has been observed. Choysum (Brassica rapa cvg. Caisin), (58%) and mustard, (47%) (Brassica juncea) are the most commonly grown during hot wet season. The yields decrease during hot wet season compare to the other seasons varies from 35% to 65% depending of the crops. There is no common strategy about the crop management during hot wet season; but weeding is still the main limiting factor in vegetable production. In conclusion, some opportunities based on diversification and negotiation in the vegetable commodity chain are proposed.
