Résumé : With less than a month to go before the enlargement of the EU, FruiTrop provides a panorama of the main fresh fruits imported by the 10 new member countries. The data are the latest figures recorded by Eurostat and cover the 12-month period running from August 2002 to July 2003. Trade operators who wish to establish a position on these markets will see the strategic value of this extremely exhaustive coverage that shows very large scope for progress in certain products. Per capita consumption is some 30 percent lower than in the EU for a fair proportion of the major fruits (banana, easy peelers, lemon and grapefruit) and particularly low for oranges and exotic fruits.
