2001. Alternative to the chemical control of post-harvest diseases of bananas in Guadeloupe.

Résumé : Anthracnose and crown rot of bananas, mainly due to #Colletotrichum musae#, are the most important post-harvest diseases affecting the quality of exported fruits from the French West Indies. These diseases develop during fruit conservation and ripening and highly depreciate fruit marketability. They are in practice controlled by a post-harvest fungicide. However, under Guadeloupe conditions, this chemical control has now reached deadlock because of fungicide resistance; poor efficiency in certain areas; a stronger demand for a reduction in pesticide use.
