2002. Natural durability and basic physical and mechanical properties of secondary commercially less accepted wood species from Brazil.
In : 33th International Research Group on Wood Preservation Annual Meeting 12-17 May 2002
Résumé : The natural durability towards basidiomycete fungi and termites of several secondary timber from Brazil (Vatairea sp., Hymenolobium sp., Inga sp., Manilkara sp., Caryocar sp., Terminalia sp., Apuleia sp.) has been evaluated according to the EN 350-1. Some basic physical and mechanical properties (density, shrinkage, hardness, colour, static strength in flexion and compression) were also measured according to the appropriate standards. The results given in this paper could help in promoting the utilization of these timbers for certain end-uses.
