Résumé : After the agricultural collectivization period during the second half of the 1970s in the South, the Vietnamese agriculture experienced a transitional stage under the contract system of agricultural collectives (1981-88). The Doi Moil policy was inaugurated with the 6th National Deputy Congress of the Communist Party in 1986; the policy started, however, in the agricultural domain with Resolution Number 10 of the Politburo of the Communist Party Central Committee (1988). Under the Doi Moi policy, multiple structures of agricultural production are recognized, and de-collectivization and privatization of agricultural management is promoted. After the application of the Doi Moi ideology to this production sector, it appears that the agricultural structure throughout the country has changed rapidly and profoundly, but differently depending on the regions. The purpose of this book is to elucidate the transitional process of agricultural structures in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam during the period of Doi Moi policy. Along with the Song Koi Delta, the Mekong Delta is one of the most important agricultural areas in Vietnam, providing more than half of the total domestic paddy production (Vietnamese staple food). The delta functions as a granary not only for the nation, but also throughout the world. The delta's high agricultural productivity has contributed significantly to Vietnam's recent paddy exports.
