Résumé : Genetic resources conserved in vivo in field collections remain exposed to diseases, pest attacks and weather calamities such as hurricanes. in vivo collections have also high maintenance costs and can retain only a limited genetic diversity, particularly among species. The use of tissue culture and crypreservation, which have been developed over the past 30 years helps to overcome these disadvantages. Specifically, cryopreservation (storage at the temperature of liquid nitrogen, - 196°C) is the only technique that ensures the long term, safe and cost effective conservation of genetic resources of vegetatively propagated and non orthodox see plant species are conserved in Cirad la Réunion. In order to ensure their safe, long-term cost is effective conservation, it is necessary to develop cryopreservation techniques. Tropical garlic is our priority crop. Therefore, as mentioned in my application form, cryopreservation techniques will be applied to establish a cryopreserved collection of garlic germplasm in CIRAD La Réunion. This training period had two main objectives : to become acquainted with the cryopreservation techniques, for their futur application to the plants maintained in the Biological Resource Centre ( CRB) under establishment in Cirad la Réunion.
