Résumé : Studies focused on biodiversity or on the implementation of strategies based on integrated pest management make it important to identify insect pests and natural enemies. In some countries the introduction of genetically modified crops resistant to Lepidoptera, such as cotton or maize, may involve a reduction in the use of insecticide treatments intended to limit these pests. Certain families of bugs, such as Pentatomidae and Miridae, could therefore become the principal pests. This means it is advisable that we increase our knowledge of these pests, which have sometimes been considered only a secondary threat. This guide is designed for people working in the field, particularly farmers and professionals in the agricultural sector. Here they will find a short description of the principal species of phytophagous and predatory bugs found in West Africa which affect cotton, corn, cowpea (Vigna unguiculata), soybean and sorghum crops.
