Abstract : L'invention a pour objet un procédé d'identification d'individus auxquels correspond une nomenclature de caractères d'identification. Conformément au procédé, on entre ladite nomenclature dans une mémoire d'un ordinateur et on interroge cette nomenclature par comparaison avec des caractères que l'on choisit en les localisant sur un portrait-robot affiché par l'ordinateur et mis à jour successivement en relation avec les critères précédemment sélectionnés. L'invention s'applique en particulier à l'identification d'espèces botaniques. (Résumé d'auteur)
Résumé (autre langue) : A method for identifying items by means of a related set of identifying features. According to the method, the set of features is read into a computer memory and retrieved by establishing parallels with features that are selected by locating them on a composite picture displayed by the computer and updated successively in accordance with previously selected criteria. The method is particularly suitable for identifying botanical species. (Résumé d'auteur)
