Résumé : In 2020, two elements weighed on the evolution of world rice prices. On the one hand, the drop in exportable supplies due to drought which affected off-season harvests, and on the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic which slowed down trade due to logistical problems in the production areas and in shipment ports. At the end of the year, world prices came under renewed pressure due to the shortage of containers, which caused delays in the shipment of goods. Overall, world rice prices rose by an average of 16% over 2019, and by 20% year-on-year between January and December 2020.
