Résumé : In order to evaluate the impact of the recycling of organic waste products (OWP) on pests and diseases on lettuce and carrot crops, an experiment was set up from 2016 to 2018 on an arenosol (Niayes region, Senegal). Each cycle of each tomato/milk/carrot rotation was optimally fertilised with NPK mineral fertiliser (T-1). Three OWP were also applied at two rates: sewage sludge (SS-1 = 5 t ha-1 MB and SS-2 = 10 t ha-1 MB), cow dung transformed by anaerobic digestion into liquid form (DM-1 = 1 L m-2 and DM-2 = 2 L m-2) and poultry litter (PL-1 = 5 t ha-1 MB and PL-2 = 10 t ha-1 MB). Each of these 7 modalities was conducted on a plot of about 50 m2 and repeated three times. Results showed that the incidence of leaf miner (Liriomyza trifolii) was higher on SS-2 lettuce (33.3%) with a significant difference (p=0.002) compared to SS-1 (11.1%). That of nematodes was significantly higher (p<0.03) on lettuce roots of SS-2 (22.2%) than in PL-2 (7.4%) and T-1 (5.6%). The incidence of bacterial leaf spot (9-19%) and root necrosis (0-5.6%) on lettuce did not differ between treatments. For carrot crops, the incidence of alternaria was higher in the OWP (20-40%) than in the T-1 treatments (17%), in contrast to the incidence of nematodes. The incidence of powdery mildew was lower in SS-2 (5%). Dodder (Cucuta sp.) occurred in the DM. The effect of OWP on the incidence of pests varied by crop, dose and type of OWP.
