Résumé : Cotton production in Zambia over the past ten years has continuously increased. But this situation is only due to the increase of the hectareage under cotton. And, in fact, the average seed-cotton yield has stagnated around 600 kg/ha - a very low level - varying according to the rainfall patterns only. To achieve better yields, it is necessary that management be considerably improved. This is the only solution which will result in a further increase of the national production together with better profits for farmers. So, we the authors, members of the cotton team and LINTCO thought that a booklet gathering some basic recommendations on agronomical practices and pest control could be a useful tool for the extension staff, the cotton growers and that it will help boost cotton production.
