Résumé : The second mission to Hainari Island in China, under the technical assistance contract for the Rubber quality improvement project NA 85/27 was carried out by the team of Rubber production consultants, from 25 April to 29 may 1988. The three objectives of the mission were: field survey of two state farms, one producing crumb-rubber the other one centrifuge latex and to determine the current field organisation and practices; study and prepare recommendations to improve the existing exploitation system; assist in the implementation of recommended techniques and train project field staff. The tapping quality and the general upkeep of the plantations are very well, only some minor recommendations were given to improve the running of the State Farms. The quality problem of the rubber produced by the State Farms, the object of the mission, is not caused by the quality of latex arriving to the factory. We can also say that future yields of the young plantings, which will come into tapping in the years to come, could reach at least 1500 kg/ha.
