Résumé : This experiment file covers the 1986-1987 season, which is the third year of experimentation for oil seed and small grain legume division. The following senior staff were attached to this division: Gasenone Maphanyane, agronomist; Alain Mayeux, agronomist; Dintle Molapong, Technical assistant; Elizabeth Kgetse, Technical assistant. Groundnut, sunflower, mungbean were the main three crops studied during this season. The programme covered the following fields. Variety experimentation: selection of material with a view to select early maturing, drought resistant cultivars. The study of local and introduced varieties in the aim of selecting varieties well adapted to the ecological conditions in Botswana and which meet the objective of satisfying the demand for vegetable oil. Agronomy: the study of a number of agronomical aspects associated with groundnut cultivation, such as cultural practices, fertilization, sowing densities, inoculation. Phytosanitary protection: the preliminary study of how to protect plants during the plant's growth cycle against termite attacks. Selected seeds: production of the first multiplication levels, so as to guarantee quality and varietal purity and at the same time, to ensure supplies to the SMU multiplication service. Field test: evaluating the effect of 2 inputs (seed dressing and fertilization) in farmer's field.
