Résumé : This collection of tables which present the technical properties of 16 forest species of Guadeloupe is the first of the accomplishments undertaken by the Association des metiers du bois et de la forêt, with the help of the Région and the Office national des forêts (National Forestry Bureau), so that Timbers of Guadeloupe can be better understood and more widely used. Although it comprises the data of about 60 trials carried out by the CTFT, it must nevertheless be viewed as a temporary document, as the number of trials per species presented here, i.e. from 3 to 5, is insufficient to describe the properties of a species with accuracy. The data given m these tables nonetheless provide information which specialists will find useful, until such time as further trials define the conditions for the utilization and the possible uses of the timbers of Guadeloupe even better, because of a more thorough knowledge of their mechanical and physical properties , their natural durability and their capacity to be given preservative treatment.
