Résumé : In sub-Saharan western Africa, in spite of the variety of global climate change (GCC) scenarios, they ail agree on a decrease of rainfall and an increase of its spatio-temporal variability. Consequently, the efficiency of crop and livestock systems that is currently low will be increasingly disturbed. Farmers of agro-pastoral zones will have to improve their adaptation strategies and practices. These practices will in tum increase or decrease GCC consequences. The purpose of the project ASECC is to evaluate the potential impact of livestock breeders adaptation strategies to GCC on production systems and ecosystems. The first phase is an analysis of the adaptation strategics to GCC by a characterisation of farmers' perceptions to GCC and of the adaptation rules and practices they use to manage crop and livestock systems. This communication aims to present the results of the study undertaken in three villages of Burkina Faso located on a gradient of increasing aridity (Folonzo: Sudanese-Guinean zone, woodland and savannas; Koumbia: Sudanese zone, savannas; Douroula: Sudanese-Sahelian zone, grasslands and shrublands). The first step of the study was an agro-pastoral diagnosis of each village intended to characterise the agro-pastoral resources and the variety of farming systems. The second step was a characterisation of the components of a conceptual model of the interactions between climate, ecosystems (soil, water, grasslands..) and farming systems. Investigations were thus undertaken to characterise the perception of the different kind of farmers on GCC and climatic risks. Then, climatic scenarios were elaborated with farmers' focus groups in order to identify their local mode of classification of rainy seasons. Finally, their adaptation strategies to these scenarios were identified and their potential impacts discussed with farmers. The third step was the definition of proposals allowing increasing the flexibility of crop and livestock systems in order to cope with GCC.
