Résumé : Latin Americ a is a minor net importer of rice. The annual production is about 16 million tons and an average per capita consumption of nearly 35 kilos of milled rice. But the situation is widely varying according to countries. It seems clear that demand for 1995 or 2000 will indicate very important deficits if production is not very substantially increased in the very next future.
