Abstract : Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is a contagious and often fatal viral disease of sheep and goats and also wild small ruminants. The PPR virus is distinct from but closely related to rinderpest virus and both belong to the morbivillivirus genus within the family Paramyxoviridae. PPR is a contagious transboundary disease with a significant impact on rural poor farmers. Its control should therefore be considered in programs that aim at alleviating poverty in developing countries. (Résumé d'auteur)
