Résumé : The tropical timber market has shown some resilience during this health crisis, although exports from Latin American countries have been significantly more affected than those from Asia. While 2020 has seen a general decline in export volumes, these declines are smaller than might have been expected when many timber operations and industries were shut down in the spring. Timber prices recovered significantly at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, especially for African and Brazilian sawn timber and South East Asian plywood. The price of both Asian and African logs has also risen significantly.
