Résumé : The modelling approach is a technique which enables prediction of the evolution of the stand dynamics over time. It is also a tool to help decision makers in thier choices for forest management. The present study is an initial modelling excercise using the data of the STREK project with a classical matrix model. The stand is discribed by the distribution of the trees by diameter classes and species groups (dipterocarps and other species). the model estimate the recruitment and the transition probability for a unit-period of time, as a function of the stand density. The model enables simulation of the effects of logging or silvicultural treatments such as liberation thinning. The first results show that the time required for the forest to return to its original state is close to 70 years and that silvicultural treatment lead to a reduction of the time necessary to renew the stock of harvestable trees.
