Titre anglais : Importance of "local" commodities: Palm oil production in Benin
Résumé : For more than two centuries, small artisanal units have maintained a palm oil production in Benin, They have been providing the major part of the country's export receipts over a long period. The rise of international competition and the population increase ended up concentrating the value chain on the local market. But the artisanal sector remaining prevalent and very atomized, this chain always implies a great number of actors. The development programs have been increasing the production for about ten years, but have supported only a new category of actors, the private producers of selected palm trees. Our analysis leads to several proposals for a more harmonious development of the value chain.
