Résumé : Domesticated and improved first in the Andean countries 5000 years ago, the Chenopodium quinoa is not considered just has an "Indian food" anymore. Its potential was discovered during the XX's century and since, the number of countries cultivating it jumped from 6 to 13 while 23 countries are under experimentation and 20 are looking forward to starting. The impact of the research organization has been high, creating major event as the CIP/ DANIDA or the SWUP-MED projects or simply establishing network around the world, as the United Kingdom did with India, Australia, China and Nepal. Today, the experimentation centers spread in new countries that were not used to produce neither import quinoa. Countries out of South America are now owners of PVR or requesting it. Even if the major part of the production and of the research publication is based in the Andean Countries (especially Bolivia and Peru), the research is spreading around and working on new themes, as virology, dietetics, quinoa processing.
