Résumé : Introduction: Plague was introduced in Madagascar in 1898. Although the number of country reporting plague case was reduced this last few years, plague is still endemic in Madagascar. The objective of this study was to identify Yersinia pestis in the small mammals and their fleas in the Makira parc and inventory of mammal reservoirs and flea vectors. Methods: Small mammal trapping was conducted between November 2020 and April 2021 in 16 sites in Makira park by using 50 traps including 25 Sherman and 25 Tomahawk during four nights. Biological sample were collected. Results: A total of 182 small mammals belonging to six species were trapped of which four are endemic species and three are introduced species. Further, 40 fleas belongning to three species were collected. Sampling showed a low capture rate despite the significant capture effort (3080 trap-night). A new distribution of Synopsyllus fonquerniei beyond its usual distribution was observed. Conclusion: This study revealed that no small mammals tested were infected or have not been in contact with Yersinia pestis. Further, all of the fleas were PCR negative. Based on the current study, we found that small mammal populations and fleas from Makira were not infected with Yersinia pestis.
